Isaac Newton was born in the manor house of Woolsthorpe, near Grantham in Lincolnshire. As a boy he attended the Free Grammar School in Grantham. Newton’s greatest achievement was his work in physics and celestial mechanics, which culminated in the theory of universal gravitation.

2012 sees the return of the Grantham Sprint Triathlon. The event is ideal for novices and sprint distance enthusiasts.
The event starts with a 400m swim in a heated, indoor pool, which equates to 16 lengths of The Meres 25m pool, and then out onto the bike for a 18km cycle on local quiet roads. The route is 18km (two laps of 9km) which travels towards Barrowby and Harlaxton before returning to the Meres Leisure Centre. Competitors then climb off their bikes and embark on a 5km run (two & half laps of 2km route) around the paths encircling the sports stadium.

Changing and shower facilities available and there is also a cafe within the leisure centre.
Competitor Withdrawal
If for any reason “the applicants“ who have already successfully entered an event find themselves unable to race and wish to withdraw from the event, the applicant must inform the event organizer in writing.
This must be done initially via e-mail to the organiser. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that their request has been received.
Applicants who withdraw from the event prior to the event will receive a credit note for 50% of the original entry value.
Please note the swapping of entries between competitors is strictly forbidden as it invalidates insurances undertaken by the promoters to cover the event. Athletes found to have passed or taken up another competitors entry will not be allowed to take part in the event and no refund or credit note will be issued.
Applicants not notifying the organisers of their wish to withdraw from an event until after the closing date and applicants who do not attend the race/event will not receive any form of refund/credit.
